Worml

Guess where the animal lives.

Worml is a free daily geography game. Each day you're shown a photograph of one animal — a snow leopard, an okapi, a Devils Hole pupfish — and you work out which countries it is native to by guessing countries on a 3D globe.

How to play

• Guess any country. It's coloured by how close it is to the animal's nearest native country: deep blue on the far side of the planet, red when you're one border away.
• Guess a country the animal actually lives in and it turns green. Find the number shown on the animal card to win.
• Every guess also shows a percentage, its rank against your other guesses, the distance in kilometres and a compass direction — so none of it depends on seeing colour.
• Daily is the same animal for everyone and changes at midnight. Practice is unlimited. Every Wednesday the daily animal is something long and legless — a worm, snake, caterpillar, legless lizard or eel.

About the animal data

Ranges cover mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects and freshwater fish — from animals everyone knows to endemics most people have never heard of. They are simplified to whole countries for playability and compiled from IUCN Red List range descriptions and Wikipedia summaries. They exclude introduced populations and are not authoritative conservation data. Animal photographs come from Wikimedia Commons and are credited to their photographers on the results screen.
